Carnoustie 20 v Madras 10

Carnoustie returned to league business after a pro-longed break due to weather and the holiday period.

The early stages of the game favoured the visitors who pressed forward requiring Carnoustie to defend, desperately at times.  Eventually pressure told and Madras touched down but failed the conversion. Carnoustie dug in and broke the siege but although pressing were too frantic and lost several good attacking positions by failing to secure the ball.  Just on half time the pressure paid off withl Keiran Murphy touching down. The conversion was missed.

Carnoustie raised the pace of the game from the restart and attacked strongly to be rewarded with tries from Nathan Bowles and Ian Reid one of which was converted by Andrew Burgess.  Carnoustie were again attacking well when awarded a penalty which was converted.  In the final seconds of the game Madras forced their way over the line to touch down in the corner but again missed the conversion.
